about this category

The art of learning to sing, also known among teachers as vocal production classes, can be a very difficult art form to learn. Understanding what is going on inside one’s body is not easily taught, but with the correct techniques one can over time begin to sing in ways that were once thought unachievable. Understanding that one’s body is the entire musical instrument is a key concept that must be grasped for one to properly learn to sing.

Having a good teacher is probably going to be the most challenging part of learning this art form. It is very easy for a teacher to steer a student in the wrong direction that will lead to bad habits that are hard to break, and habits that also can damage ones voice. Singing is a very physically demanding activity and the use of one’s breath is a very key element that teachers should teach their students.

Being able to control one’s breathing and understanding how this can manipulate sound and pitch will be invaluable tools to a student of this craft. Having correct posture and resonation are two fundamentals that any experience singing teacher should convey. The source of sound created resonates throughout one’s body and the bones in ones face. The types of sound that one is capable of creating can often times are due to their genetic structural make up. The size and shape of one’s body has a tremendous influence upon the sound one will create, teachers that emphasize this type of understanding should be highly sought after. Once one finds a good singing teacher all that is left for one to do is practice and results will occur.
